Speaker: Who is the speaker of the poem? It almost seems like a grandchild watching thier grandparents
What do you know about him or her?They are very observent
Occasion: What is the occasion of the poem? nothing special
What is the event that prompts the speaker to speak? comparing the people and how they change from when they were young and now they are old
Audience: To whom is the speaker speaking? the old person
What do you know about him or her? they are old
Purpose: What is the purpose of the poem? to show that people change
Why do you think the poet wrote the poem? to compare young and old
Subject: What is the subject of the poem? people growing old
tone: What is the tone of the poem? mellow
What is the speaker’s attitude toward the subject of the poem? calm
Theme: What is the theme of the poem? old people
What is the poet pointing out about people, society, or life? That when they were young they could be like the most beautiful person, but when you grow older you change.
State the theme succinctly.That people change when they grow older, well at least hier apperance!!!!
